28,707 Covid reported cases in PH - January 9, 2022

Of the 28,707 reported cases today, 28,512 (99%) occurred within the recent 14 days (December 27 - January 9, 2022). The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were NCR (16,803 or 59%), Region 4-A (5,821 or 20%) and Region 3 (2,841 or 10%).

Of the 15 deaths, 11 occurred in January 2022 (73%), 1 in December 2021 (7%), 1 in October 2021 (7%), and 2 in September 2021 (13%). Deaths were from Region 4A (3 or 20%), Region 6 (3 or 20%), Region 3 (3 or 20%), Region 2 (2 or 13%), NCR (2 or 13%), Region 7 (1 or 7%), and Region 1 (1 or 7%) due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya. This issue is currently being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure information is up to date.

135 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 116 are recoveries.

Moreover, 3 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

All labs were operational on January 7, 2022. However 14 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the 14 labs contribute, on average, 5.1% of samples tested and 5.7% of positive individuals.
