26,458 reported Covid cases in PH - January 8, 2022
Of the 26,458 reported cases today, 26,277 (99%) occurred within the recent 14 days (December 26 - January 8, 2022). The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were NCR (16,139 or 61%), Region 4-A (5,387 or 21%) and Region 3 (2,281 or 9%).
Of the 265 deaths, 15 occurred in January 2022 (6%), 2 in December 2021 (1%), 8 in November 2021 (3%), 37 in October 2021 (14%), 59 in September 2021 (22%), 51 in August 2021 (19%), 35 in July 2021 (13%), 13 in June 2021 (5%), 5 in May 2021 (2%), 2 in April 2021 (1%), 3 in March 2021 (1%), 6 in February 2021 (2%), 12 in January 2021 (5%), 4 in December 2020 (2%), 5 in November 2020 (2%), 5 in October 2020 (2%), 1 in September 2020 (0%), 1 in August 2020 (0%), and 1 in July 2020 (0% due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya. This issue is currently being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure information is up to date.
131 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 101 are recoveries and 1 is a death.
In addition, 116 cases were found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count. Of these, 18 are recoveries.
Moreover, 238 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
All labs were operational on January 6, 2022. However 6 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the 6 labs contribute, on average, 3.6% of samples tested and 5.4% of positive individuals.
