18,638 Reported Covid 19 cases January 28, 2022

Of the 18,638 reported cases today, January 28, 2022, 18,281 (98%) occurred within the recent 14 days (January 15 - January 28, 2022). The top regions with cases in the recent two weeks were Region 4-A (2,379 or 13%), NCR (2,211 or 12%) and Region 6 (1,969 or 11%).

Of the 68 deaths, 59 occurred in January 2022 (87%), 4 in September 2021 (6%), 1 in August 2021 (1%), 2 in May 2021 (3%), 1 in April 2021 (1%), and 1 in March 2021 (1%) due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya. This issue is currently being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure information is up to date.

594 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 242 are recoveries and 3 are deaths.

Moreover, 22 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

All labs were operational on January 26, 2022. However 4 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the 4 labs contribute, on average, 0.8% of samples tested and 0.9% of positive individuals.
